U.S. Space Force – Space Systems Command
U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) is the primary acquisition and development arm of the Space Force, responsible for developing, acquiring, and sustaining space capabilities for national defence. Based at Los Angeles Air Force Base, SSC oversees programmes spanning satellite communications, missile warning, positioning, navigation and timing, space domain awareness, and launch — making it one of the most operationally significant commands in the national security space enterprise. This Attorney-Advisor position supports the Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) at Space Base Delta 3, providing senior legal counsel to the Space Base Delta 3 Commander and all units on Los Angeles Air Force Base. The legal portfolio is broad and substantive, spanning administrative law, claims, environmental law, contract law, labour law, international law, and operations law — with particular emphasis on the most complex installation-level cases requiring independent legal judgment and senior advocacy. The postholder will advise on legal compliance, represent DAF and installation interests in negotiations and administrative hearings before federal, state, and local officials, provide legal assistance to military and eligible DoD civilian personnel, and furnish guidance on the interpretation of federal statutes, DoD directives, Air and Space Force policy, and international law. The role requires a Secret clearance and is open to the general public. For space law practitioners, this position offers direct engagement with the legal infrastructure supporting the U.S. Space Force's primary acquisition command.
