About the position

The Open Lunar Foundation is building the governance infrastructure needed for humanity's return to the Moon, working at the intersection of coordination, policy, technical systems, and stewardship. It participates as an active observer at UN COPUOS and engages governments, commercial operators, and international institutions on lunar governance frameworks. Central to its current work is the Lunar Ledger — a neutral, voluntary coordination platform designed to support information-sharing, transparency, and operational awareness across the growing lunar ecosystem. As missions multiply and the Moon becomes more commercially and strategically contested, the Ledger is intended to reduce collision and interference risk, improve mission coordination, and lay normative foundations for more cooperative lunar governance. This Project and Partnership Lead role is the operational and external-facing lead for the Ledger programme, reporting directly to the Executive Director. The postholder will define the product roadmap, manage web developers and consultants, drive stakeholder onboarding and partnership development across commercial and government actors, represent Open Lunar at conferences and workshops, and coordinate with the policy team on integration strategies with UN bodies and nation states. The role is highly autonomous — a genuine 'department of one' — and requires fluency in both the space sector and emerging governance frameworks.

Requirements

4+ years of professional experience in the space sector, preferably with direct exposure to lunar missions or relevant technical systems; or 6+ years in adjacent communities Experience leading complex projects with high ownership across strategy, execution, and partnerships Experience developing partnerships, business development pipelines, or strategic collaborations Strong verbal and written communication skills across technical, strategic, and policy-oriented audiences Demonstrated interest in governance, coordination, or institution-building in emerging domains Desirable: experience in product management, technical programme leadership, or ecosystem-building Desirable: understanding of lunar governance, space policy, or international coordination issues Desirable: experience in startups, emerging technology environments, or mission-driven organisations
