Alliance NewSpace France
Alliance NewSpace France is the representative body of the new generation of French space actors — nearly 60 startups and SMEs covering the full value chain from equipment manufacturers to launch operators and in-orbit service providers, representing over 10% of French space sector employment. Since 2021, the Alliance has become a recognised voice in French and European space policy, participating in the COSPACE state-industry consultation committee and engaging systematically with French ministries, the European Commission, ESA, and European Parliament on competitiveness, sovereignty, and defence dimensions of the space sector. This Institutional Affairs Officer (Chargé de mission) role sits at the heart of the Alliance's policy and advocacy function, working directly alongside the Director on strategic dossiers spanning civil and defence space policy. The postholder will analyse regulatory, industrial, and political developments affecting the NewSpace ecosystem, consult members to build common positions, draft official position papers and briefing notes for public authorities and industrial partners, and represent the Alliance in institutional meetings, working groups, and conferences at French and European level. The role requires both policy analytical rigour and the interpersonal skills to facilitate consensus among members with competing interests — a profile well suited to space policy professionals with backgrounds in European affairs, public policy, or industrial strategy who are seeking a central position in the French NewSpace ecosystem.
Master's degree in political science, international relations, public affairs, public law, or business; Sciences Po, IEP, or equivalent specialisation in European or public affairs particularly valued Minimum 3 years of experience in public affairs, European affairs, or an institutional environment Excellent written and analytical skills in French, with ability to produce strategic analyses and position papers under tight deadlines Fluent English mandatory: ability to produce documents and conduct interactions in English Good command of French and European institutional mechanisms Experience involving regular interactions with public institutions, industry stakeholders, or sectoral ecosystems strongly valued Desirable: experience within a sectoral association or in the space, defence, or deeptech sectors
