Legal Counsel
Northwood Space
| Location | Los Angeles, California, United States |
| Contract | Full-time |
| Salary | Not specified |
| Deadline | Open until filled |
Northwood Space is building a next-generation global ground network to transform connectivity between Earth and space, deploying antenna systems and ground infrastructure at sites around the world. As the company scales its international footprint rapidly, it requires legal capability that can translate complex multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments into clear, actionable guidance.
This Legal Counsel role sits at the intersection of legal, policy, and technical competencies and is central to enabling Northwood's international ground network deployment. The postholder will work closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to support the full scope of the company's growth — including commercial and government contracting, regulatory licensing, and the legal dimensions of cross-border infrastructure deployment in the space communications sector.
The role is an ideal fit for attorneys with an interest in space policy and telecommunications law who are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, startup environment with significant ambiguity. It offers direct exposure to the legal and regulatory architecture of one of the most operationally active segments of the commercial space sector.
Requirements
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing (California preferred)
3+ years of legal experience in commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, or telecommunications/technology law
Experience supporting international business operations across multiple jurisdictions
Comfort operating independently in a fast-moving, startup environment
Strong interest in space and satellite communications
Desirable: familiarity with FCC licensing, ITAR/EAR, or spectrum regulatory frameworks
Desirable: experience in government contracting or infrastructure deployment
