UNIDIR's Space Security Programme operates at the forefront of international research on the governance and security dimensions of outer space, engaging UN member states and the global policy community through publications, events, and digital tools including the Space Security Portal and Lexicon for Outer Space Security.
The Research Assistant will support research activities, manage digital platforms and their localisation into UN languages, coordinate social media outreach, liaise with Member States for data reviews, support event planning including the annual Outer Space Security Conference, and assist with donor reporting.
This is an excellent early-career position for professionals in space security or disarmament who wish to develop research and programme management skills within a UN institutional environment. 12-month contract with extension possible.
Requirements
Advanced degree (Master's or equivalent) in international affairs, political science, international law, public administration, disarmament, or a related field
Minimum 2 years of experience in project administration, event organisation, and report writing
Knowledge of current international security and space security debates
Fluency in English required; additional UN official language desirable
Experience with digital platforms or content management systems desirable
Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite desirable
