ESA's Space Safety Programme (S2P) leads missions, services and technologies across space weather, planetary defence, space debris, and Clean Space. The Space Safety Programme Coordination Office (OPS-SX), based at ESA Headquarters in Paris, drives strategy and policy across the entire programme — including the ZeroDebris Charter, relations with Member States, EU institutions, and international partners, and secretariat functions for the Space Situational Awareness Programme Board. This National Graduate Trainee position is funded by Luxembourg under a bilateral partnership agreement with ESA and is open exclusively to Luxembourgish nationals or Luxembourg permanent residents holding ESA Member State nationality. The traineeship carries the same employment conditions as ESA's own Graduate Trainee Programme. The postholder will support the Head of the Coordination Office across a broad portfolio: long-term strategic studies aligned with ESA Strategy 2040; operational coordination of the ZeroDebris Charter community and events; the Space Weather Demonstrator project; reports and presentations for ESA Council, DG-level meetings, the SSA Programme Board, and external outreach; and support to S2P events across Europe. The profile sought combines social science and engineering or space science backgrounds — a dual expertise is explicitly valued.
