The U.S. Mission to International Organizations in Vienna (UNVIE) is seeking a motivated intern to support its Multilateral and Technical Affairs (MTA) Section, with a primary focus on Project Constellation, UNVIE's flagship space diplomacy initiative aimed at building international partnerships around outer space. The intern will support U.S. engagement with key Vienna-based bodies including UNOOSA and COPUOS, contributing to policy and market research, strategic communications, event planning, and partnership development. The role sits at the intersection of multilateral diplomacy, commercial space policy, and emerging technology, offering hands-on experience in a fast-paced international policy environment. This unpaid volunteer position runs for 3–4 months at approximately 20 hours per week and is particularly suited to candidates interested in space policy, international affairs, or the global space economy.
Enrolled as a full-time student at a University or Fachhochschule in Austria Austrian citizen or non-U.S. citizen with valid Austrian residence permit At least 18 years of age Major or specialization in International Relations, Political Science, Space Policy, Public Policy, Science and Technology Policy, International Business, Law, Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Communications, or related field Fluency in English (minimum C1 level) in speaking, reading, and writing Excellent English writing, editing, and proofreading skills Strong research and analytical abilities including policy and market research Interest in space policy, emerging technologies, commercial space, or international economic issues Proficiency with Microsoft Office and online research tools Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines Familiarity with digital communications, social media, or multimedia production (desirable) Experience with AI-enabled research or productivity tools (asset) Valid health insurance in Austria Ability to pass a security certification
