The Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie (BDLI) is the German Aerospace Industries Association, representing over 300 member companies — from startups to international prime contractors — across the full German aerospace and space sector, which employs more than 130,000 people and generates EUR 62 billion in annual revenue. BDLI is also the brand owner of ILA Berlin, the biennial aerospace innovation trade show. This Space Policy Officer position focuses specifically on military space and security policy — one of the most rapidly evolving and consequential areas within the German and European space sector. The postholder will monitor and analyse national and international space and security policy developments, assess technological and industrial trends for the German space industry, draft briefings, position papers, and analyses, and maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders including the Bundestag, federal ministries, DLR, ESA, and the European Commission. The role also involves coordinating working groups and events on space and security policy topics, supporting BDLI's political communication and advocacy function, and contributing to BDLI's presence at major industry events including ILA Berlin. For space security and policy professionals with German-language capabilities and backgrounds in government relations, think tanks, space agencies, or the aerospace and defence industry, this is a senior advisory position at the heart of Germany's space industrial and policy ecosystem.
University degree in political science, economics, engineering, law, international relations, or a comparable qualification Solid knowledge of the space sector with particular interest in military space, defence, and security policy Experience in stakeholder management and professional networking Strong analytical and communication skills including ability to handle complex policy issues Organisational strength and experience in project and event management Very good German (mandatory); good English required; additional languages an advantage Experience in a trade association, public administration, space agency, or space/defence industry strongly preferred Applications (CV and cover letter) exclusively by email to bewerbung@bdli.de
