About the position

Planet Labs operates the largest constellation of Earth-imaging satellites in history, delivering daily global coverage to commercial, government, humanitarian, and defence customers. Its communications function sits at the intersection of space technology, geopolitics, AI, and sustainability — engaging audiences from the World Economic Forum and Munich Security Conference to Capitol Hill and national security agencies. This Executive Communications Manager role serves as the primary communications partner for Planet's CEO, shaping and amplifying the thought leadership platform of senior leadership across press, podcasts, keynote presentations, op-eds, and major global forums. The postholder will develop high-level content strategy, ghostwrite for the executive bench including the President and CFO, Chief Space Officer, and Chief Revenue Officer, and drive Planet's executive presence at top-tier events where space policy, commercial Earth observation, national security, and sustainability intersect. For space policy communications professionals, this is a distinctive opportunity to operate at the precise nexus of commercial space and geopolitics. Planet's data is used by governments, intelligence agencies, humanitarian organisations, and multilateral bodies — and its leadership communicates directly with the most senior audiences in the global space and security ecosystem. Knowledge of the intersection between commercial space capabilities and national security is explicitly listed as a differentiating asset. The role is hybrid, based in San Francisco, with three in-office days per week required.
