About the position

The German Aerospace Center (DLR), acting as Germany's national space agency, is seeking a Delegate to represent German interests in the ESA Programme Board for Satellite Communications and relevant EU bodies dealing with satellite communications, including GOVSATCOM and IRIS². The role involves preparing and advocating German positions in close coordination with internal and external partners, and implementing outcomes of committee sessions. The delegate will also analyse developments related to European institutional space sites and ground infrastructure, devising strategies to advance German interests in these areas. Additionally, the position involves monitoring space-relevant developments across European countries and institutions and managing structured dialogues with partner organisations. The contract is initially limited to two years, with flexible and mobile working options available. (Original posting in German)

Requirements

Completed academic university degree in natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, or economics (Master/Diplom or equivalent) Sound knowledge of national and European space policy and space programmes Several years of experience in public administration or the space industry with an international focus Proven experience in interest representation, ideally at the European level In-depth knowledge of the working methods and regulations of international organisations, particularly ESA and/or the EU Fluent German and negotiation-level English; French or another European language is an advantage Willingness to travel domestically and internationally Professional and confident demeanour, team orientation, strong communication skills Willingness to undergo a security clearance check pursuant to the German Security Clearance Act (SÜG)
