Airbus Defence and Space is the second-largest space company in the world and Europe's leading defence and space contractor, with activities spanning military aircraft, satellite systems, missile systems, and intelligence services. Its Getafe facility near Madrid is a key hub for defence programmes including the A400M, C295, and a range of space and intelligence systems. This International Government Affairs internship forms part of the Discover II 2026/2027 programme — Airbus's flagship graduate scheme in Spain, delivered in partnership with Camilo José Cela University and combining an 11-month full-time internship with a structured Master's programme across three academic training blocks. The programme starts in October 2026 and runs until October 2027. The government affairs placement embeds the intern within the team responsible for managing Airbus's relationships with governments, defence ministries, and regulatory authorities. The postholder will gain hands-on experience in strategic briefing production for governmental audiences, geopolitics and political event monitoring, and the management of high-level institutional interactions — including official receptions and business conferences. For graduates in international relations, political science, or law with an interest in aerospace, defence, and space governance, this is a rare structured entry point into the international government affairs function of a major European prime contractor.
