European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA)
The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) manages the commercialisation, security accreditation, and user uptake of Europe's flagship space infrastructure — Galileo, EGNOS, Copernicus, GOVSATCOM, and IRIS² — and operates the EU Space Surveillance and Tracking front-desk. This Head of Department appointment sits within the Office of the Executive Director, reporting directly to the Executive Director, and leads EUSPA's corporate coordination, institutional outreach, and strategic communications functions. The postholder will steer and manage all activities of the Executive Director's Services, including the development of the Agency's strategic vision and annual programming documents, secretariat services to the Administrative Board, information management, business continuity, internal communications, and external stakeholder relations. A significant dimension of the role is senior executive communications — leading the creation of speeches and presentations for the Executive Director, implementing an integrated communications strategy, managing media relations, and coordinating press conferences and outreach events to enhance EUSPA's visibility across its expanding space programme mandate. For space governance professionals with senior leadership experience in EU or international institutional settings, this is one of the most strategically significant management positions available in the EU space ecosystem — combining institutional governance, communications, and executive support at the apex of Europe's civil space regulatory authority. A SECRET UE / EU SECRET clearance is required. The post is a 5-year renewable Temporary Agent contract based in Prague.
