About the position

The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) is a global non-governmental organisation representing university students and young space professionals to the United Nations, space agencies, industry, and academia. Its Space Generation Advocacy & Policy Platform (SGAPP) is SGAC's dedicated policy and advocacy arm, engaging with UN processes, national space agencies, and the broader space governance community on issues of space law, policy, and sustainability. This Communication Officer role shapes SGAPP's external voice and public engagement, developing and executing the platform's communications strategy across social media, website, and newsletter channels. The postholder will create content aligned with SGAPP's advocacy goals — highlighting space policy positions, key governance initiatives, and member contributions — and collaborate with SGAC's central communications team to ensure consistent, professional messaging across the organisation. For early-career professionals interested in space policy communications and the UN space governance ecosystem, this volunteer role offers direct engagement with one of the most active youth-led space policy platforms in the world, hands-on experience in policy-focused storytelling, and access to SGAC's global network spanning space agencies, international organisations, and the commercial space sector. The time commitment is 3-5 hours per week for one year, fully remote.
